Work in Progress is here—because none of us have it all figured out
by Gayle Kalvert

Let’s be real: No one has it all together. Not me, not you and not that hyper-polished CEO on LinkedIn or that founder who just landed another contract and somehow still has the time to train for a marathon.
Work in Progress is the podcast I wish existed years ago—before the layoff, before the startup, before the lessons I had to learn the hard way. And now? It’s here. And it’s for you.
If you’ve ever whispered to yourself, “Is it just me?”This show is for you.
What to Expect from Work in Progress
This isn’t a business podcast with all the answers. It’s not a life-coaching session in disguise. This is real talk for people building big things—and carrying even bigger expectations.
Sometimes it’s just me, talking through the swirling mess in my head. Other times, I’ll bring on friends, experts, and humans I deeply admire to talk through the hard stuff. We’ll cover careers, relationships, money, mental health, ambition, and identity.
No filters. Just facts, feelings, and a whole lot of “me too” moments.
Why Now?
Because we’re all managing so much, and quietly wondering if we’re doing enough or spending time and energy on the right things. I’ve been there. I am there.
When I got laid off years ago, my daughter said, “We celebrated that day, Mom.” That moment stuck with me. Because even in uncertainty, we can choose to believe everything will work out and lean on our support system when times are hard. We can bet on ourselves, even when it’s scary. We can pivot, rebuild, and rise again.
That’s what this podcast is all about. Not the wins, but the process. The scrappy middle no one sees. The part that no one would ever dream of posting about.
The 5 themes you’ll hear over and over
If you lead a brand, a business, or even just your own big life, you’ll find yourself in these conversations and relate to each of our guests. Because at the end of the day, we're all just learning as we go. Work in Progress explores:
1. Building while becoming
How do we lead and grow when we’re still figuring ourselves out? These episodes are for the founders, execs, marketers, and creatives building businesses, teams, and identities all at the same time.
2. The messy middle of ambition
Yes, we’re driven. But what happens when the hustle no longer feels healthy? What if you’ve built “success” and still feel stuck? This category dives into burnout, impostor syndrome, pivot moments, and that persistent “is it just me?” feeling.
3. Motherhood + leadership
You’ll hear stories about the overlap of leading at home and at work. How do we mother, manage, mentor and still make time for ourselves? Spoiler: we're all figuring it out in real-time.
4. Redefining what “enough” looks like
Whether it’s money, body image, relationships, or career milestones, we’ll unpack the pressure to always be “more.” And give ourselves permission to just… be.
5. Real-life resilience
Layoffs, health scares, failed launches, marriage cracks—yeah, we go there. These episodes are about navigating the plot twists in life we all experience with honesty, grace, and maybe a little humor too
.
For the record…
If you’re worried your savings account looks like a ghost town,If your goals feel stalled by your health,If you’re questioning your marriage or struggling in motherhood,If you’re wondering if you’ll ever feel like “you” again…
You are not alone.
And if you’re successful on paper but still feel like something’s off, you’re not crazy. You’re just human. You’re a work in progress.
A final promise
This podcast is not about pretending. It’s about permission—to show up as you are, without shame. It’s time to stop scrolling through highlight reels and start having real conversations.
I’ll be honest. I’ll be raw. I’ll probably cry at some point. (You’ve been warned.)
But my deepest hope is this: that Work in Progress becomes your exhale and deep breath of fresh air. I hope that it’s a space where you feel lighter, seen, and reminded that you’re not walking through whatever you’re going through alone.
